How does the LOVE Team Celebrate LOVE Day?! Well…first and foremost we celebrate ALL YEAR LONG! (Trick question!)

We spend LOVE DAY spreading LOADS of LOVE! This Valentine’s Day I went to Bell Middle School in Golden, CO all day SPREADING THE LOVE to the 7th grade!

These kids ROCKED my SOCKS OFF! They were AWESOME! We had an EPIC day talking to each class about the importance of eating breakfast, what whole grains are, and why you should be able to pronounce EVERY ingredient in your food!

We wrapped up class with some SUPER FUN worksheets and, of course, yogurt and LOVE GROWN parfaits! It was the best way to spend Valentine’s Day! PLUS, all the kids LOVED seeing Sweet Pea the LOVE Prius in their parking lot!

What a PERFECT Vday…it was full of SO MUCH LOVE!

How did you spend Valentine’s Day?

Spread LOVE,
Maddy

Some of my bestest of friends just so happen to be responsible defending our country.

Pretty amazing right? I’m so grateful for all that they do! <3

As you already know, I’m a Love Grown Foods groupie ambassador and absolutely adore working with this amazing company. When they’re not whipping up natural and nutritious granola, they’re travelling from school to school teaching children about the importance of starting the day with the most important meal: breakfast! Over the holidays they matched every Facebook “like” with a donation [of yummy granola of course] for families in need. And as if that wasn’t enough, they also sent me a giant box of love to mail to active-duty troops overseas who could certainly use a little extra LOVE this Valentine’s Day.

I wanted to send something healthy but fun and Love Grown Granola made for a perfect, love-themed care package!

The below was taken directly from the blog THE NEW HEALTHY:

*                    *                     *                     *                     *                     *                    *                  *

Breakfast. It’s one of the main reasons that I love weekend mornings. And when I say mornings, I may actually mean nearly noon because we all know that I’m not always a morning person.

There are also a ton of other reasons why I love the weekends – no work, no alarm, family time, freedom – but for the purpose of this post, let’s just say it’s all about the breakfast.

During the week, breakfasts are grab and go. Coffee is sipped (okay, chugged) from a to-go mug. And the general mood is rush, rush, rush.

Now on the weekends, everything is reversed. I can put some time (and thought) into breakfast and it’s actually served on a plate rather than eaten in the car. Coffee is sipped (okay, still chugged – who am I kidding?) from a nice big mug. And most importantly, the mood is relaxed. Oh weekends, I love you so.

This past Saturday, I started to prep my usual weekend breakfast – scrambled eggs with veggies and toast – and then I thought, wait a minute here. I’m supposed to be challenging myself to change up my meal routine. You know, trying meals that are different and possibly new.

So what better time to try something new than on the weekends when time is aplenty?

It’s not that my old favorite isn’t delicious. Because it is. In fact, I had it on Sunday.

But this meal:

definitely gives my favorite breakfast a run for its money.

It all started with this LOVE Grown Granola.

As a Love Grown blogger, I definitely enjoy my fair share of delicious granola. In fact, I have a handful (or five) pretty much every single day.

But for some reason, this particular bag was left unopened. Not because it’s not tasty (it is) – but when I’m grabbing handfuls, I go for the chunkier versions. The flavors with plenty of cranberries, coconut, and chocolate. Cocoa goodness and sweet cranberry pecan are my absolute favorites.

So how could I use this bag of simply oats? Why for an oatcake of course. An oatcake that keeps you full and is totally delicious to boot.

Single Serve LOVE Grown Granola Oatcake

1 serving (1/4 C.) Love Grown Simply Oats

2 T. old-fashioned rolled oats

1/4 C. egg whites

2 t. cinnamon

4 drops liquid vanilla NuNaturals stevia (or sweetener of choice)

1/4 C. fresh blueberries

Finely blend the Love Grown granola, rolled oats, and cinnamon in a food processor, blender, or magic bullet.

Mix together the egg whites and liquid sweetener. Then add in the blended granola. Mix well.

Finally, fold in the blueberries.

Cook in a warmed pan spritzed with non-stick spray, flipping once.

   5. Top with Chobani Greek yogurt sauce (see below) and sliced bananas.

Chobani Greek yogurt sauce

1/3 C. plain Greek yogurt

1-2 T. vanilla almond milk (to thin it out)

stevia + cinnamon to taste

This was so freaking good. And although it was only one oatcake – it kept me full for a few hours! I can’t say the same thing about regular pancakes.

My favorite part? These are so versatile. They can be made with any of Love Grown’s fabulous flavors of granola. Additionally, you could use any type of fruit – raspberries, strawberries, peaches, etc..

And of course, you can get creative with the toppings too! Syrup, protein fluff, or almond butter would all be delicious.

Now that’s what I call spreading the LOVE. Thanks to the amazing people over at Love Grown for making this weekend breakfast possible.

Can next weekend please hurry up and arrive so that I can experiment with more oatcakes?

WE LOVE RED ROCKS! There is nothing we love more than a chill summer concert on the Rocks! This year, our friends at Icelantic were able to throw together an event unlike any other. For the first time EVER, Red Rocks had its first WINTER CONCERT! Performers Common and Atmosphere both hit the stage, and Love Grown Foods were lucky enough to join Whole Food to feed the hungry and cold concert attendees!

Not only did we get to go, FOR FREE, but we got to head in an hour early, with VIP WRIST BANDS! Check out that empty amphitheater!

And check out this dark amphitheater only 20 minutes later! The wonders of winter right!

Our friends at Whole Foods were nice enough to invite us to the event! So we handed out the LOVE with some of our other favorite brands like White Girl Salsa and Justin’s Nut Butter!

Nothing like twinkle lights to put you in the winter mood!

After the sun set, it started to get pretty chilly up on those rocks, but thankfully the Whole Foods tent was located conveniently next to a warm orb of light! (aka Icelantic’s sculpture).

I went closer for a better picture (and to increase my body temperature).

After the TOO FUN night on the rocks, I helped myself to the VIP access, and stocked up on bags of swag! It truly was an epic event and we cannot wait for next year!

I have been searching everywhere for a very healthy/low cal granola! When I saw Love Grown Foods I couldn’t believe it! Most granola is around 200 calories and loaded in sugar. LGF is only 130 calories! Love Grown Foods uses honey and agave to sweeten their granola. If you need to find a location to purchase these you can go to LOVEGROWNFOODS.COM.

I bought 5 flavors of Chobani yogurt that I thought would go perfect with each flavor of granola to try out for breakfast for this week. I will keep you posted each day with how they taste!

Today I had the apple cinnamon Chobani with Apple Walnut Delight granola.

YUM! I absolutely loved these two products together! The apple walnut delight granola was a perfect touch. It was extra crunchy and complimented the yogurt perfectly. I couldn’t even tell that the granola was sweetened with agave and honey. It almost tasted like my grandpa’s apple pie. I can’t wait to try another combo tomorrow!!
